I was given the task to bring this open type font to fruition based on a haiku that states: succulents are plants. thick and fleshy cactus like. bringing joy to me. This entire project was inspired by my love and knowledge of succulents. Every unique letter is hand drawn specifically to the different species of succulents. I used Bodoni as an ultimate guide to draw my leaf specimen within. I learned the process of creating this font through the program called Fontographer. The challenging aspect of this project was designing a cohesive collection of individual letters that all had the same “color.” This display font was a rewarding project to see come to life in the end.
